 Kuan's Kolumn 3/12
When I was a little boy, my mum would sometimes cook an insane amount of one dish and even though I loved that dish, by the third or fourth meal on a row I'd end up hating it. We have had three collecting Kuests on a row now. We won't have a fourth one, it is time to spice things up.
The Kritter Kontest
Actually, I lied, this Kontest does involve some collecting and you will have to turn the items in if you are one of the winners. However, the difference is that I won't be giving you a list of the items that you have to collect, that'll be entirely up to you.
Like I said in a previous Kuest, back in September of 2009 we started releasing new Armor items based on materials and stats, like the Maneki set, which is made out of ceramic, or the carbide Emperor set. All of those items have their own unique icons, and a number of them have a good dose of DoH humor.
Look at this Kontest as an opportunity for your inner mad scientist to shine. Your task is simple, but the possibilities are endless: create a Kritter out of DoH items. You'll need at least five items per entry and each entry has to come with a creative description of the Pet (only one of this is needed, but the more, the merrier): a drawing, a biography, a story, all of the aforementioned... in short, something that brings your creation to life.
The deadline to submit your Kritter is Monday March 29th at 8 pm CST.
There'll be four winners this time: 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be determined by the Tandem Staff. The fourth winner will be decided by the DoH community during a 24-hour party I am throwing at Glory Tower from March 31st 8 pm to April 1st 8pm CST. During these 24 hours, there is going to be a Poll open in the forums where you can vote for your favorite Kritter.
You can submit several Kritters, but you'll only be able to win one of the prizes. If your Kritter wins one of the prizes awarded by the Tandem Staff and the fan vote as well, we'll give the the fan vote prize to whoever is next on the list. Gotta share those Charms.
Submissions will be done in this thread and you'll need to post screen shots of the items that you used to create your Kritter, as well as the creative piece.
May the best Kritter win!

 Re: Kuan's Kolumn 3/12
I hope I did this right!
My submission: The fearsome Japanophile! A generally peaceful creature who loves and admires the magnificant Japanese culture. Japanophiles, when roused to battle, are fearsome opponents. Their decorative katanas are actually surprisingly effective, and their cute cat gloves have real claws... if you would seek the treasures they guard, you had best come well prepared!
The Gear: Katana Maneki Helm Maneki Gauntlets Maneki Boots Dickies Tank Top*
Attacks: Hanzo Steel (Physical damage) Cat Scratch Fever (Poison damage, chance to inflict bleed) Jpop (inflicts Silence or Confusion) Long Conversation about Anime (inflicts Sleep)
Special Drops: Wall Scroll (charm; keep in inventory to obtain bonus) Pocky (potion; restores 500 hp)
(The Tank Top is an optional 6th item; I can't remember if it exists or not, I think it's a low level item. He's wearing one in the picture, but you can mentally substitute 'T-Shirt' or something that actually exists for that one :P )
Two quick notes: 1) I am only making nice fun of Japanophiles. I have anime dvds and a wall scroll or two, and not one but two decorative swords (and I love both cats and pocky). No mean fun is intended :-)
2) Forgive the absolutely terrible quality of the attached image; I don't have a scanner, so I snapped a picture with my phone. He is making the stereotypical "cheesy asian tourist photo" peace sign on the left, and the waving-kitty hand on the right. The stripes on the boots are supposed to be like from a snow tiger, but I'm not sure that's clear in the image. I'm a pretty poor artist, but this was fun to make :-)

Oh, do the items we turn in have to be of any particular rarity/quality? I don't expect to win, but someone's going to, and if they have to be Mythical items it might be nice to let them get a head start on collecting them :-)

 Vampmobile!!!
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Vampman! Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Vampman! Vampman, Vampman, Vampman!
I knew i was a bad idea when Vampirate convinced me to let him keep that Desert Dolphin...
Well i can only blame myself for this because to be totally honest I never really did think Vampirate needed to focus on improving his mind. So I didn't. Ever. I was away from my keyboard allowing Vampirate to just grind away on his own and he started, without my knowledge, to stockpile all these random items. Everytime I tried to sell them or recycle them he would get really upset and tell me things like, "hey, I'm doin all the work here, you just sleep and I have to stay up all night killing fire bats and pouncers and god knows what else!" or "are you kidding me? you make me defend Vulcatown when Annihilation is attacking, I friggin died, and you won't let me just keep these few things I enjoy?" He was right though. I put together a pretty crappy build and he died all the time. All that getting killed in every battle he entered started to get to him I think. Vampirate desperately wanted to run away! There was a problem however, if anyone ever ran they were usually called out in the main chat and he was a bit sensitive...so he found a loop hole, he would DRIVE AWAY!!!
Thats where the Desert Dolphin enters the picture. Now I am all about animal rights and such so I assure you that Vampirate was on his own with this one. Using super glue, he attached four shields on the dolphins sides to act as tires, two pavise on his back to act as chairs, a scepter for his shifter, arm guards for headrests, two shiny smaller shields on the forehead to act as headlights or reflectors, plate glass in front and back for windshields, mirrors for safety, of course, a crystal piece for a dome light and wartower for the steering wheel. Vampirate was ready, he thought, to escape battles before dying. Believe it on not, Desert Dolphins have a difficult time trying to escape when they are burdened with an extra 500lbs of gear and vampire. But that wasn't the real problem that Vampirate encountered with his "Vampmobile" The real problem was that Desert Dolphins are ferociously proud and they never run. Soon after he realized his work was for not he refused to stay up grinding all night so I let him keep his Vampmobile and he just sits in there all day.
