Quote: lol i have speculated You have made quite a lot of assumptions then, in your speculations, because you're off or just plain incorrect on some points. I agree many current skill bugs have gone unfixed. This is mainly because we would be fixing skills that we're already preparing to throw away - wasted work compared to spending effort on things like territory bugs, where I've seen progress made. Me and troupe have for a very long time, said again and again that we are NOT basing the new skills on what's gone before. It's not "We might rebuild some races and classes." It's "I'll be surprised if you recognize a single skill that carries over" In many cases we are carrying over a theme, but expect every race and every class to be rebuilt. There has been talk of various ways of solving the problem of characters and builds being invalidated by the update. Please sit tight - I promise that much thought is going into the subject of how to make sure your hours of levelling are not being wasted. Quote: as for the work put in for this particular project, it looks ok on paper, but its not in the real world yet. I might advise you to make sure you have the facts before making such assertions. Because I assure you that you don't have any idea how much work is or is not completed. The work that has been done on this project is online for collaboration, but certainly not publicly accessible. It is also probably closer to being ready to code than you imply.

Re: The Official "Skills Update Is Coming" Thread
actually what i was implying by its not in the real world yet, was we have plenty of bugs that need worked out already. i cant imagine the new update will fall into the game and have none in it. so instead of fixing existing problems, its probably going to add to the ones we have already. its too bad only a handful of folks can work on this game. i don't have the knowledge to program or i would offer assistance. but i would rather see the new update with the old bugs fixed, so when the new update hits, their bugs can be focused on. as things stand, theres too much on your plate. unfortunately good intentions dont make a game run smooth, you guys have really been burning the midnight oil on this project.

Re: The Official "Skills Update Is Coming" Thread
a whole new FVF system is coming, so it would be pointless to fix excisting fvf bugs Classes+Races get complete make-over, so those current bugs are pointless to fix as well
Take those 2 out, and what you have left is very little bugs to fix, and none of great importance.

Re: The Official "Skills Update Is Coming" Thread
Yeah I miss BD :'( CK and Mythyk and Brut... not as much Anyway, yeah, the update will pretty much just redo most of the game; all the things that have huge bugs are being redone. no pointin fixing old when you get new. Besides, the new stuff will be shinier and more functional, so why not wait and be all "OH WOW THIS IS AWESOME COMPARED TO EARLIER!!!" rather than fixing the old until the new arrives, and when it does being "eh, this is cool but it's nothing special." IMO waiting and being super happy is more fun than being kinda happy now and being kinda happy again

fistantalus, your sharpness is noted, but i would hardly call you the brains of this conversation. and by implying that the fvf is the ONLY bug issue here is... well an understatement. all i am saying, is they have worked hard on the new update, i hope it works.

Clipper, then enlighten us, what bugs are there that are so important, that will has nothing to do with classes or fvf?

The only bugs you have referred to are combat bugs and skill bugs. All of that is being swept away for skills and a combat system that, I am told, WILL be tested before being implemented. (I don't know details about that, though.) Bugs with new skills and the new battle system (And there will be some, I have no doubt) will not stack on top of the current problems. Instead, we'll throw the current problems into the trashcan as we implement a new system, rather than fix them at the same time as we try to write a new system. It's not that we have too much on our plate. We've just decided that some of these current problems we can just scrape into the dog's dish instead. I'd encourage those here to voice their concerns without resorting to tearing-down and direct insults, so that your concerns can be addressed. So far, the way people have voiced their concerns have been rather critical, which tends to put supporters of the game (And those working to improve it) on the defensive. Remember - the point here is to try and build a bridge to the community, not to "Win the thread". If you simply told us that you were concerned about certain bugs (And what those bugs were) and whether that would carry over to the new code, then we could reply to your concerns.

Hey, still no estimate on the update?
Also, not to be annoying, sorry, but I'm curious; will human/warrior be a viable melee build after this, as oppose to being a waste of time?
