Wow - tricky. Turns out that firefox was creating the cache objects about 25x slower than all of the other browsers. Now I am creating them on demand, which leads to a quicker load, but a (much smaller) lag when certain tabs are loaded for the first time. Arg. Tomorrow's update will have this fix, and firefox will be working quickly again for everyone. :yay:
