Post Re: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do the attribute points actually do?
A: Power: Physical damage
Mind: Magical Damage and Mana
Agility: Dodge value, hit value, initiative (who attacks first)
Endurance: Defense
Life: Amount of HP
Luck: Affects everything you do a little bit (including chance of finding rare items)

Q: What do the status afflictions do?
A: Click me

Q: How does PvP/Conquering of Areas work?
A: Whenever you see the "Challenge [Faction] for [Area]" message, you just have to click it to conquer that territory. The following screen is the PvP screen where you can battle other players if they join the fight. However, you don't have to fight to conquer an area, as soon as you "challenge" a faction for that area, it's yours. You can leave the battle at once.

Q: I just got killed by a monster in 3 hits!! What the hell?
A: These are Elite or Uber monsters, stronger versions of the standard enemies you fight in that area. They are quite rare and put up a good fight, so be careful! You can't distinguish them from other enemies (except for their stronger attacks) as of now.

Q: How do I change my name?
You have to spend a wish (Wishes! tab)

Q: How do I change my chat font color?
You have to spend a wish :)

Post Battle Positions
You'll notice in FvF battle, we have 3 battle positions for each side: Challengers and Defenders.

The positions are:
Front (best for melee attacks)
Middle (best for ranged attacks)
Rear (best for injured players, weak players, etc)

The further back you are in the battle position, the weaker your attacks will be, but also, the weaker your opponent's attacks will be.

Melee players' attacks are strongest when they are in the Front Line.
Ranged attacks (weapons like bows, or magical attacks) work best from the Ranged line.

Now you can coordinate your positioning as a team.

Q: How can i get more wishes?
A:
1. Buy some. On the Wishes tab, you can buy them by clicking on the Green/Gold buttons.

2. TrialPay. You can also use TrialPay to get a Starter Pack for free (by signing up for a free trial of Netflix, Gamefly, eMusic, etc.).

3. Refer New Players. Use the link on the top of the Wishes tab when you post in forums or send email to friends. When people sign up using that link, you'll get Referral Points for all of the purchases they make (about 12%).

4. Login Lottery. Login each day with each of your Characters. Each character can play the Login Lottery each day where you can win XP, Coin, Treasure Keys, and 1, 2, or 3 Wishes.

5. Trading. You can trade Wishes with other players. Collect great items or do something for someone.

6. Voting. Coming soon (today): Click the Options buttons in the game (left side: black/gold button). Click "Show Voting Booth" - vote for Domain of Heroes on each of those sites and you will get 10 Referral Points each day. 100 Referral Points will earn you 1 Wish.

Post Re: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Q - Why do I get killed by a level 1 player when Im level 25!?!?!

A - This game is equipment based, not yet level based, and equipment does not have level restrictions. if you are wondering where they get this shit from, well, they have a large level character, and they transfer items via a mule.

Q - what is a toon?

A - a toon is another term for a character.

Q - what the hell is the point of guilds?! they just cost wishes, time, and energy!!

A - well you could not join one, for one thing, although Aaron I believe is working on guild wars, so if and when it gets finished, you will have fun killing and getting killed, on an uber level ;) although currently, as of March 22nd 2009, they are simply a group of friends that hang out, help eachother, have fun, invite non-friends so as to make more friends, help new people, and just generally haver a blasted good time :D

Q - My guild is not working very well! how do I get new members?

A - I do not know. I am still having trouble, despite many guilds getting members lol. you and I can invite eachother's next toons :D

PS. if that last one is not a good one, then it was mostly a joke lol, but actually, if someone could help out, I would be much appreciated for when I join the game again in june.

Post Re: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Hi everyone, I'm new to DoH and I've been reading the forums but there's still a few questions I can't seem to get an answer for. So, I figured I'd post them here, and hopefully someone will be able to answer them. Thanks in advance to those that do!

1. Use off hand or not?
Are the stats from an OH worth losing the "increased dmg from empty OH" you can get from a SH? I guess this depends on the OH stats, but genereally speaking. Also, is there a point to using a knife over a shield?

2. How important is base defense?
In the trade channel I seem to notice the BDef of an item isn't very important, but I was wondering if I'm mistaken, and if I am, whats a good goal to aim for as far as BDef goes?

3. Is there a cap to +stats from items?
(like +100.0POW total from all items, I have a feeling the answer is "NO" but wanted to make sure. In case it's not capped, what is a decent stat skill for your main stats? I was told mellee/caster should get atleast 1k POW/MND respectively, but what about the others?

4. Do people use potions in duels/FvF?
It seems to me this would be considered "cheap" so I don't do it, but will I run into people that do do it?

5. Whats good life for mellee?
Pretty straightforward questions...

6. Whats a good goal for a mellee/caster respectively from gear?
(like as much POW/MND as possible, +% dmg for your respective weapon/spell, all elem stats atleast 60%, etc)

7. Should an MF toon bother with MF gear at early levels? Or should it just equip best gear it can to get higher levels faster?
(Remember, I'm only a couple days old so my "MF" gear and your "MF" gear aren't the same...)

8. Whats a common inflict i should aim to get gear to defend against?
(I get tangled a lot, but is one inflict more common at end game or are none very common?)

If you want to just tell me the answers to these questions "in person" the char I'm usually on is JinBokou of the legion, thanks again!

Post Re: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
1. If you're a mage, you should definitely use an OH. If you're a character class that only does PHY damage, then you have to make a decision as to whether the extra enchant slots are worth a decrease in damage output. Using an OH with "damage" rather than "defense" will offset the penalty somewhat, but not fully.

2. I think base defense is important personally, especially for the chest slot. For other slots, where the max is normally around 15 anyway, it's not as important. Having a high bd chest could reduce the amount of damage you're taking by about 10%. That said, special enchants are more important than bd. For example, if you're a POW user, a legend chest with t3 POW% and bd 10 is better than a bd 70 vanilla chest.

3. No, there is no cap. The higher the better, but most stats start to have some level of diminishing return at higher levels (over 800-1000). What that means is each point will have slightly less effect than the last, but each point does matter. There are people running around with POW and MND over 10,000. The other stats really depend on your character build. Some AGI/END is important in my opinion, but they don't need to be at extreme levels unless you're going for a specialized build. LUK is important if you want to find good items, but is weak in PvP.

4. No, the game won't allow you to use potions in PvP/FvF fights.

5. The more the better. Adding some Hit Point Regeneration (HPR) to the mix, either with skills or an item, can also be helpful, especially if your current HP is over 2000.

6. Depends on class. For classes that do a single damage type, at some point you can start backing off on the core stat and putting more slots into +DMG enchants if you want to maximize damage output. If you're a rainbow caster like a bard or squirrel, then don't bother with the damage enchants. Pumping MND is more effective.

7. You should always have your best MF gear on, especially at lower levels. At higher levels, when killing efficiency becomes more important, then you may have to make some decisions as to the right balance between LUK/MF and your combat skills.

8. All afflicts which make you lose turns, e.g. Freeze, Paralyze, Petrify, Sleep, Tangle, etc. are used to some extent.

Gandalf covered most of the points, so I'll just add my two cents where I can.

All situational. Depends on both your race/class, and your purpose. Your core stats should always be boosted, boosted, boosted, for as long at you're raising stats - however, you should have some secondary stats as well that you have some minimum in. For instance, 200 or 300 agi will massacre most people that invest nothing in agi. A similar amount of END will likewise make a big difference in the damage you take. Whatever areas you choose to focus on though, you shouldn't ever stop pushing them higher as long as you're levelling and acquiring equipment/runes.

A MF toon should wear MF gear whenever he's in PvE combat. That will be your 'best gear' for a MF toon. Your purpose in a MF toon is farming for drops, so you want mainly four stats - power and % phy damage so you can kill things efficiently, (ideally one-hit kills on everything but ubers in your chosen MF zone,) luck, and %magic find.

You will level up whether you mean to or not while farming for items, so to me, trying to accelerate the proccess isn't terribly helpful. Also, of those primary stats, Magic Find is the only stat that can only be added via skills, or through enchants that can only be found, never added. (Additionally, it's rarer than some other 'found' enchants, like %-to-stat, and only appears on rare equipment or better.) Because it's harder to boost %Magic Find than it is to boost other stats, I consider Magic Find to be the most important stat to boost. Everything else you can boost very well with reagents.
